Arena Project Committee

In May 2009, Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel formed the Evansville Arena Project Committee, giving it the mission of working in collaboration with the Mayor’s office to keep the public informed about the project and help evaluate key decisions.

The committee is chaired by Kathy Kleindorfer, granddaughter of Mayor O.H. Roberts, for whom Roberts Stadium was named.  Kleindorfer is also the President of the Roberts Stadium Foundation Board.

A majority of the members of the Roberts Stadium Advisory Board, created by Mayor Weinzapfel in June 2007, agreed to continue their work as part of the Committee.  In addition, the Mayor appointed representatives of groups interested in the arena and the future of our City.  They include hockey interests, downtown business owners, students, young professionals, university officials and union representatives, among others.
