Grand Opening Act to be Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band
Evansville Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel is pleased to announce that the Ford Center’s grand opening act will be legendary rock and roll sensation Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band.
Seger’s concert will rock the Ford Center on November 9. Tickets will go on sale on September 24* at 10:00 a.m. and can be purchased at the VenuWorks Ticket Office (323 Main St.), all Ticketmaster outlets, charge by phone by calling 1-800-745-3000 or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com.
“Bob Seger is a true rock ‘n roll legend with a broad fan base and cross-generational appeal. I’m thrilled to have Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band perform in Evansville and christen the Ford Center stage,” said Mayor Weinzapfel.
The first leg of Seger’s tour included the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, TD Garden Arena in Boston and Philips Arena in Atlanta. His new tour dates will extend from coast to coast, with stops expected in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, and more. The first leg of Seger’s 2011 Tour drew extremely favorable reviews from critics and played to more than 350,000 fans.
“Bob Seger doesn’t have to do much to make crowds go insane. At this Kansas City show, all it takes is the opening piano chords of ‘Old Time Rock and Roll’ or the guitar intro to ‘Night Moves’ and thousands are screaming along to every word,” says Andy Greene, Rolling Stone.
“Without question, the road is Seger's thematic sweet spot. Sounding stronger than he did during a 2006 visit to Indianapolis, Seger belted more than 20 songs with sincere grit – remarkably similar to what's heard a dozen times a day on your radio,” says David Lindquist, Indianapolis Star.
Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band’s legendary live performances have led to record sales in excess of 51 million which includes 11 platinum and seven multi-platinum RIAA-certified album sales awards. Seger holds the distinction for the #1 Catalog Album of the Decade (2000-2010) for his Greatest Hits, which has sold more than nine million copies in the U.S. to date, posting an unbroken 16-year streak on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums and Catalog Albums charts. On September 13, Capitol/EMI will release Seger’s multi-platinum Live Bullet and Nine Tonight concert albums digitally remastered with exclusive bonus tracks.
