VenuWorks selects Schoenike to Lead New Evansville Arena

VenuWorks President Steve Peters introduced Scott Schoenike as Executive Director of the New Evansville Arena to the Evansville Redevelopment Commission earlier today (March 15).  He begins his new duties on March 21. 

“We are bringing the right person in Scott Schoenike to assume the responsibilities of opening this fabulous new venue,” Peters said.  “Scott’s experience inworking within all facets of facility management, along with his experience in multi-purpose venues, were important factors in selecting him for the position.”   

Schoenike brings more than 21 years of experience in the entertainment and hospitality industry.  He comes to Evansville after four years as Executive Director of the U.S. Cellular Center, Paramount Theatre and Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.  The Cedar Rapids’ facilities are also managed by VenuWorks. 

“I am excited to have this opportunity to open the New Evansville Arena,” Schoenike said.  “We will work hard to build upon the successes established here in Evansville.  There is no doubt that in today’s economy, the concert industry is changing.  I look forward to the move to Evansville and the excitement of opening this new venue.” 

Prior to working in Cedar Rapids, Schoenike worked at the DeltaPlex in Grand Rapids, MI from 2003-2006.  He worked for the VenuWorks corporate office as a contract consultant and Midwest Regional Food & Beverage Director from 1997-2003.  He simultaneously served as Convention & Sales Director at the Midwest Wireless Center in Mankato, Minn., from 1997-2001.  

Before coming to work for VenuWorks, Schoenike worked for ARAMARK Corporation from 1989-1997.  He was assistant suite/catering manager at the Met Center in Minneapolis from 1989-1993, assistant suite manager at the Alamodome in San Antonio from 1993-1995, and Catering Director at Coors Field in Denver from 1995-1997.

BACKGROUND

VenuWorks manages 36 venues, including arenas, theaters, and convention centers across the country in 17 cities and 10 states.  VenuWorks also provides comprehensive catering and concessions service, event promotions, venue planning and project development services.
